When I wake up in the morning
Sometimes I think about the meaning of life and existence
Today is a cloudy day
And the mere sight of the sky makes me want to sleep
I didn't feel like writing anything complicated
I felt lazy and sleepy
But I knew that I wanted to write something
So I decided to write a song as simple as I could make it
A song with five chords
And I thought..."this song should have a suitable name"
So I took a look at the sky again
and I tried to relate my song with the current cloudy wheather
I had five chords and the sky was cloudy
It took me a little bit to find a relation
I tried different names but I didn't like them
I tried many things but nothing worked
The answer was more simple than I thought
If I had five chords and a cloudy wheather
It was obvious...and all of a sudden I had a name for it
It was so simple, I thought maybe it was stupid
But I decided to carry on with my idea
I ended up naming the song "Five Chord Cloud"

I wasn't up to think about the meaning of life and existence
I wasn't looking for the meaning of our place in the universe
All I had in my head were those five chords, clouds and colors
Not the colors of the sky which were different shades of gray
But the colors of the chords themselves
They summoned a feeling of nostalgia and a bit of sadness
This is a five color song

The chords that I chose for this song
Were an A minor, C major, F major, D minor and a B flat major
Pretty simple chords that somehow seemed to connect with the clouds outside
It's a strange thing...how certain things can conjure something else
Or be related to it somehow
